What’s Your Business’s “Science Experiment” This Season?

What I've Been Working On

First, I want to say “welcome” and “thank you” to everyone who signed up for Website Maintenance for Q4! This is a great time to keep your website in check and healthy, especially right before 2027. As mentioned in the last newsletter issue, the new version of Website Maintenance will launch this month, officially on Tuesday, October 27th!

If you just joined, you’re all set. Nothing changes for you.

Your Website Is an Experiment Too

Last issue, I said running a business feels like a science experiment. Many of us feel this way. We try a new lesson package, launch a coaching program, adjust a recital date, edit some Instagram reels, and see what happens with every new strategy every 3 to 6 months.

However, most of us don’t treat our website that way. It gets built once and then left alone, or it gets torn down entirely when something isn’t working or no longer aligns with our brand. I know because even as a web designer, I sometimes find it challenging to write copy for my own business. Growing pains are normal. Before reaching for a full redesign, though, try a smaller experiment.

Think of your business as a science experiment. Your website is a variable. How does a website work for you in your business? I want you to look at the top of your homepage. Is there one clear button that tells people what to do next? (There definitely should be if I designed your website 😉) If not, add one, give it a specific label such as “Book a Trial Lesson” rather than “Learn More”, and watch your inquiries and site traffic for a month. It’s one change, one thing to measure. Start small with your experiments and try others when you’re ready to get out of your comfort zone.

This quarter, I’m running one of my own experiments.

Introducing The Green Room

The Green Room is a relaxing series featuring founders in and around the music business, especially introverts and people on non-traditional paths.

This is a safe space where I invite guests to answer a handful of questions typed on their own time. No calls, no recordings, no performing. Just a friendly, calm way to connect with like-minded people.

As an introverted entrepreneur, I’d rather learn about people doing interesting work than pitch my services on camera. I want to get to know other business owners on paths many haven't walked, and see if a quieter format can still build real connection.

The first feature lands next week, and the first guest might surprise you. It’s me! I figured I should answer my own questions before asking anyone else to. You can also learn more about me personally and professionally.

Find connection and inspiration in my all-new curated blog series, and hang out with me and my special guests in The Green Room 💚
